Switchback + LGSC

LGSC decided to partner with Switchback as their ongoing charity partner as they wanted to give something back to a charity that works within their home city of London, and that is creating lasting change. Switchback is a completely different, intensive rehabilitation programme. They help young adult offenders – known as Trainees – make real, long-lasting change after their release from prison.

In 2018 LGSC partnered with Switchback for their first trip and due to the amazing results, completed their second in 2019. We wanted to give the trainees a chance to experience the benefits of the ocean and have a chance to disconnect for their daily stresses. Many boys that join us on these trips have never left the city, let alone seen the sea. The change in them from 3 days away from their usual environments is incredible.

Everybody needs time off. From responsibility. From anxiety. From social pressure. For Switchback’s Trainees, it can be impossible to get away from those things when they’re walking the same streets, maybe meeting the same people, and trying to make lasting change in their lives. But on this trip they got to take a breath and have fun.
